  • Descrição: Adapted from Alekos Sakellarios’ and Christos Giannakopoulos’ theatrical play. Meletis the grocer, a simple and meek guy (Ntinos Iliopoulos) gives his consent to his sister Mary (Anna Synodinou) to marry a young man who has excelled in political studies abroad and who entertains ambitions in that field, Athanasios Govotsos (Vyron Pallis). Mary, educated in Switzerland and extremely stuck-up, supports Athanasios’ aspirations, to Meletis’ utter horror, who doesn’t agree at all with the young man’s politics. Indeed, Athanasios runs for office in the next elections but fails. He doesn’t give up and runs for office again. Another failure. Meanwhile, Mary is giving Meletis a hard time, insisting on him selling the grocery store. But Meletis is in for a very unpleasant surprise, as he finds out that Athanasios has blown Mary’s dowry in order to finance his political ambitions. When Athanasios fails yet another time to get elected, he finally realises he needs to have his feet on the ground and find a way to earn a living.
